Professional Development Series
The Professional Development Series (PDS) is a comprehensive, on-going continuing education program for basketball coaches of all levels. The focus of the program will be to develop well-rounded basketball coaches on a professional (on & off the court) and on a personal level. The intent will be to create opportunities for interacting with colleagues and exchanging ideas in at atmosphere conducive to professional growth.
PDS clinics are broken down into 3 categories: Coaching Development, Personal Development, and Ethics. In order to become NABC PDS-certified, coaches must attend two (2) coaching development clinics, two (2) personal development clinics, and one (1) ethics seminar during the NABC Convention weekend.

Dr. George Barber is an associate professor and head men's basketball coach at Greenville College in Greenville, IL. Coach Barber brings a unique philosophy to sportsmanship, academics, and team unity.
Jason Belzer - Collegiate Sports Advisors
Jason Belzer is co-founder of Collegiate Sports Advisors, a firm dedicated to preserving the integrity of amateur athletics. CSA works to protect the university, the student-athlete, and the coach by establishing rules-education programs and workshops.
Al Bruehl - Robert Morris University
Al Bruehl was the 2011 NAIA Coach of the Year Award winner after leading his RMU Eagles to a 32-2 record. He is 327-91 at RMU - including 9 NAIA tournament appearances. collegeinsider.com named him one of the Top 25 non-NCAA D-I coaches in the nation.
Dave Calloway - Makarios Consulting
Dave Calloway was the head coach at Monmouth for 13 years. His personal experience moving from athlete to assistant coach to head coach provides insights into the challenges in making the shift from technical positions into leadership roles.
Carey Casey - National Center for Fathering
As the CEO of the National Center for Fathering, Casey oversees an organization that provides research-based training & resources that equip coaches to be the involved fathers and father-figures on and off the court that kids need.
Scott Davenport - Bellarmine University
Davenport won the 2011 NABC D-II Coach of the Year Award after leading Bellarmine to a 33-2 record & the ’11 NCAA Division II National Championship. Prior to Bellarmine, he served 9 years as an asst. coach at Louisville under Denny Crum & Rick Pitino.
Mike Dunlap - St. John's University
Mike Dunlap is currently the Associate Head Coach at SJU. Before that, Dunlap led Metropolitan State College to two NCAA Division II national championships (2000 & 2002) and is a 2-time NABC Division II Coach of the Year.
Peter Ebb - Ropes & Gray LLP
Ropes & Gray features a nationwide sports practice representing individual coaches, institutions and associations. R&G regularly works to solve complex problems for sports industry clients - including compliance and enforcement issues.
Steve Fisher - San Diego State University
Steve Fisher was named the 2011 NABC D-I Coach of the Year after leading his Aztecs to a 34-3 record and a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16. He led Michigan to the NCAA championship in '89, Final 4 runner-up finishes in '92 & '93, and an NIT championship in '97.
Patrick Hunt - Australian Institute of Sport
Patrick Hunt is the Applied Technical Advancement Coach at the Australian Institute of Sport & the current President of the World Assn of Basketball Coaches. Hunt has extensive experience coaching Australian basketball at the international level.

Chris Mack was the 2011 A-10 Conference Coach of the Year & the winner of the 2011 Skip Prosser Award. Mack entered the season with a 50-17 (.746) career record & guided his team to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in 2010.

James McGary is a 41 year Associate member of the NABC. His unique relationship w/ the NABC combined with an extensive broad-based background in the Financial Services area will provide valuable concepts, ideas & information in our current environment.
Bob Murray, PhD - Sports Science Insights
Dr. Murray founded Sports Science Insights to help companies/organizations maximize the value & impact of scientific knowledge in exercise science & sports nutrition. Dr. Murray has served on the American College of Sports Medicine Board of Trustees.
Dave Odom
Dave Odom was a Division I head coach for 22 seasons and amassed over 400 wins. His teams played in the post-season 15 times and won the NIT championship 3 times. He served on the NABC Board of Directors and has been very active with the convention.

Jay Pivec is in his 1st season as HC at Dakota County Tech. Prior to that, he was the longtime coach of Minneapolis Comm. & Tech. College where he posted a 425-115 record & 4 appearances in the JUCO national tournament – including 2 runner-up finishes.

The Rosbergs are award-winning authors and beloved marriage conference speakers. Together, they are co-founders of America’s Family Coaches and assist basketball families balance on and off the court challenges for a healthy relationship.

In 6 seasons as the BYU head coach, Dave Rose has led the Cougars to a 159-45 (.779) record, 4 MWC regular-season titles, 5 consecutive 25+ win seasons, and 6 post-season appearances. Rose has been MWC COY 3 times and was a Naismith COY finalist in 2011.
Robert Sallis, M.D. - Kaiser Permanente Medical Center
Robert Sallis has served as president of the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Sallis currently serves as editor-in-chief of ACSM's clinical journal, Current Sports Medicine Reports, and lectures/publishes extensively sports medicine.
Dave Simmons - McNeese State University
Dave Simmons was the 2011 NABC District 23 Coach of the Year Award winner after leading his McNeese State Cowboys to a 21-11 record & the Southland Conference regular season title. He is also a member of the Louisiana Basketball Hall of Fame as a player.
Shaka Smart - Virginia Commonwealth University
In two seasons at VCU, Shaka Smart has led the Rams to 55 wins, the 2010 CBI championship, and a trip to the 2011 NCAA Final Four. In 2011, he also received the Fritz Pollard and Clarence Gaines National Coach of the Year Awards.
Dwayne Stephens - Michigan State University
Dwayne Stephens is in his 9th season as an asst coach at Michigan State. In 2010, he was among the top 5 coaches on a list of the "Top 25 High-Major Assistants". Stephens has coached in 10 straight NCAA Tournaments including 4 Final Fours (Marquette/MSU).
Jay Wright - Villanova University
Jay Wright owns a lifetime record of 346-196 (.638) in 17 seasons as a D-I head coach. He is 224-101 (.689) at Villanova - including 4 Sweet 16's, 2 Elite 8s and 1 Final Four (2009). He was the NABC Division I National Coach of the Year in 2006.
